The recently completed master plan for the Livingston County Airport provides for an aggressive plan of development to provide superior quality facilities to provide Livingston County with air transportation to the world. With more than 65,000 operations in 2000, Livingston County Airport is one of the busiest general aviation airports in the State of Michigan.

Airport Development

The proposed development includes the construction of a new Runway 13/31, which will be 5000 foot long-by-100 foot wide with a full parallel taxiway system. An Instrument Landing System (ILS) with a glide slope, localizer and medium intensity approach light system with runway alignment indicator lights (MALSR) is planned for Runway 13. A new mid-field terminal area located on the north side of the airport and a new hangar complex is planned. The new complex will ultimately house over 300 general aviation and corporate aircraft. To provide efficient flow of these numerous aircraft, a dual taxiway system is planned for ingress and egress into the hangar area. Additionally, areas for new FBO operations and cargo handling operations are planned. Development of the runway project is anticipated by 2003 with occupancy of the hangar complex beginning in 2002.
