Livingston County,
Michigan
Livingston County is located in the southeastern part of the Lower Peninsula and
is traversed by I-96 and
US-23. The county encompasses 574 square miles of land, making it the 41st
largest in the state. The county seat is located in Howell.
Approximately 35 percent of the land is
used for farming. Livingston County is well-known for its melons and holds a melon festival every year in
Howell.
A large portion of the population works
outside the county which is situated about half-way between Detroit, the
state's largest city, and Lansing, the state capital.
Manufacturing in the county is dominated
by auto-related sectors.
Recreation activities
include skiing, hunting, golfing, and fishing. |
